A lot has happened in the past few months, I went to a wedding in Venice, my sister graduated in London and I’ve been exploring all over New York City. I will post all those posts very soon but in the meanwhile, I wanted to share my 24-hour trip to D.C. this past 4th of July weekend!
As a last minute decision, I decided to visit my friend Jasmine in Washington D.C. for 24 hours.
Due to the time limit, I only wanted to see D.C. through my friend’s eyes.
So basically, areas she liked, where she goes out and good restaurants.
Jasmine is a D.C. local.
I bought a bus ticket with OurBus.
My ticket there was $20 and $18 return.
It was my first time on OurBus and I choose that bus because it had some simple amenities that made a world of difference for a 4-hour bus ride.
OurBus had a sanitized bathroom, extra leg room, free water and free WIFI (yes, that’s right).
Overall, I did enjoy the ride with OurBus and I would definitely take it again.
I jumped on the OurBus after work around 6:30 pm in Port Authority and got to D.C. Union Station at 11:25 pm.
My friend told me to jump in a uberpool to her place since it only costs $3-4.
Jasmine lives on H Street (map below).
She describes the neighborhood as an upcoming artsy hipster area.
She recommended eating at &pizza since it is open late.
It was delicious and had vegan options too!
The next morning we jumped in her car and went to go eat at Busboys and Poets.
I absolutely loved eating at Busboys and Poets.
The atmosphere was very relaxed and the food was great.
After we ate, she showed us all around D.C. in her air conditioned car because it was way too hot to walk around.
She showed us U Street, Columbia Heights, Downtown, Dupont Circle and Logan Circle.
Then we drove to Georgetown 🙂
We explored all around Georgetown and even Georgetown University.

Then she drove us over the border to Virginia to show us Potomac River and the Great Falls!
Then we drove back to the Georgetown and got a few drinks by the waterfront.
Around 6:30 pm we headed to the most adorable restaurant called Compass Rose.
The restaurant is a renovated house. It was lovely. Please come here.
We ended our day getting dessert at a Vegan bakery place called Sticky Fingers.
Washington D.C. in 24 hours. I had an amazing time. I will be back to explore more!
